Yes, this is still here, and it will be for a while longer to serve as a reminder that there's a new place for Jill on Money content - YouTube!  Seems like a no-brainer, but sometimes it takes a little outside help (h/t to JOM friend, Joe A!) to recognize the obvious.  So don't freak out.  Going forward, we're going to put all our radio and podcast content on YouTube! It'll be easier for you to navigate and listen to past shows, because everything will be in one place.  Just click any of the links below and you'll be able to listen to this week's show as well as anything else you see that might interest you, including all the Better Off podcast content if you haven't been listening. Let us know what you think by emailing us at askjill@jillonmoney.com.

We started the show with Kevin from California, who wants to know what he and his wife should do with money that they were recently gifted. We kept the action in California with Allison, who wanted to know if she made a mistake by retiring early. We finished up with Dwayne, who had a mortgage question.

Aug 12 Download Hour Two Here

Hour two saw the return of Aunt Jill or #AuntJill to those in the know!  When it comes to money and personal finance, I like to think I know a thing or two. But when it comes to technology and gadgets, I turn to experts Jeff Bakalar and Russ Frushtick. Jeff and Russ host The 404, the longest running podcast on CNET that focuses on pop-culture, tech, movies, comics, video games and more.

It’s a good arrangement: When Jeff and Russ have questions regarding their financial lives, they know who to call—and they really do, from time to time. When I need help purchasing a new phone or want to understand what lies ahead on the tech landscape, I return the favor.

The technology world changes so fast it’s almost impossible to keep up with it. Every week, there’s some new announcement—a hot app, a hopeful tech IPO, a disruptive innovation—it’s never ending. We touched on a variety of topics that we once thought we’d only see in a Hollywood movie:

  • Artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Virtual reality (VR)
  • Self-driving vehicles
  • UPS using drones to deliver packages

We also talked about current issues:

  • Uber versus the cab companies? Is the competition a good thing? Will it force the cab industry to reinvent itself?
  • Will buying an Amazon Echo cause me to become incredibly lazy? Call me old fashioned but I actually like turning on the lights myself.

I think I get points for being active on Twitter and Instagram...though I’m not sure you’ll see me wearing a virtual reality headset anytime soon. That said, give this hour a listen, especially if you’re wondering if you really need to upgrade your phone every year or two.
